Roughcut and Roughcut Lite · Last updated: July 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Roughcut BF Scanner (“Roughcut”) and Roughcut Lite (the “Apps”), developed by Rockyspring Tech (“we,” “us”), handle information. The Apps are tools for measuring lumber and calculating board feet. We built them to work on your device, and we designed them to collect as little as possible.

The short version

Information stored on your device

Measurements, wood types, prices, inventory, cart contents, and invoices you create are stored locally on your device. This information stays on your device unless you choose to share it (for example, by emailing an invoice) or unless you enable optional analytics as described below.

Camera and LiDAR (Roughcut)

Roughcut uses your device’s camera and LiDAR scanner to measure the dimensions of lumber in real time. This live camera and depth data is processed on your device to calculate measurements and is not saved as photos or video and not transmitted off your device. Roughcut Lite does not use the camera and has no scanning feature.

Optional usage analytics (off by default)

If — and only if — you turn on Analytics in the app’s Settings, the Apps send limited, anonymous information to our secure backend hosted on Microsoft Azure to help us understand how the Apps are used and improve them. This may include:

This analytics data is not linked to your identity. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise location, or any advertising identifier, and there is no login. You can turn Analytics off at any time in Settings, which stops any further data from being sent.

What we do not collect

Sharing invoices and reports

The Apps let you generate invoices and reports and, if you choose, email them. When you do, the content is sent through your device’s own Mail app to the recipients you select. We do not receive a copy.

Data retention and deletion

Data stored on your device is removed when you delete the app. If you enabled analytics and would like the anonymous analytics associated with your app’s activity deleted from our backend, contact us at the address below and we will honor the request.

Service providers

When analytics is enabled, data is processed and stored using Microsoft Azure, which acts as our hosting provider.

Children

The Apps are intended for woodworking hobbyists and professionals and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
